Car paint: reasons for color penetration
November 30, 2023
Car paint show-through refers to the color of the original car paint seeping out of the newly painted surface, causing the color of the topcoat to change. Because:
1. The old paint film was not sealed before painting;
2. The old paint film has not been cleaned and soluble dye remains
3. The pigments of the original car paint and the thinner of the new paint react and dissolve;
It is best to spray a small piece of new paint on the old paint film for a small experiment. If there is color show-through, sealing and isolation work must be done. If color show-through has occurred, it is recommended to re-spray after polishing.
